Among his critical observations:
at its highest level of practice, INFORMATION DESIGN strives to be transparent; it should provide a medium for the presentation of concepts and data absent superfluous decoration that could obscue comprehension.
The element of design serves as the framework, and provides a cadence,orchestrating the flow of the information.
Among the many ways to communicate ideas, language, that shared convention of abstractions that derive from our capacity for critical thinking, is fundamental. It is not only what we say, but also how we say it, where we say it, and why we say it.
We must be acutely conscious that we are not merely feeding information, but rather trying to engage, to provoke a reaction, to initiate a conversation.
And, we must recognize that communications are not only aimed at a WHAT - your target market, but also at a WHEN - the near future.
